The web site had a bit of a crash today. Most things are restored (Ramblers are available in the usual place, courses/presentations will be restored shortly), but some posts from December until today have been lost.

I’ve been noticing some user lockouts lately, so I thought it might be helpful to repost this stuff from back in March 2016, just so everyone is on the same page. Back in 2016 the club was forced to change web providers, and in so doing, took a look at the web services we had and what was being used or left unused. This is what changed…
Things That Are Gone:
Things That Are New in 2016:
There are so many new features. So, starting at the top…
We hope everyone finds the new site a bit more informative and easy to use. Enjoy!
Reading the web site does not require registration. Only posting and commenting requires a login.
There comes a time with every cloud instance that it must vanish into the ether. So it was with the web server here. However, like a phoenix rises from the ashes, the server has been transported onto a new instance.
If you notice any weirdness please let the webmaster know with a description of what you were doing and what weirdness you discovered so that it may be diagnosed and repaired.
Thanks

If you’ve been around the OVMRC long enough, you may remember that our old site had a discussion forum, with user accounts.
That discussion forum is gone, and with it, all the old user accounts. On this web site, commenting on articles is enabled for registered users.
Until recently, anyone was allowed to browse right up and register. Unfortunately, that has led to a large number of spam accounts being created (and the administrative effort of deleting and blocking them).
So, to alleviate this, if you would like a commenting account, you will need to contact the webmaster by email (scroll all the way to the bottom of the page here, there is a mail link) or through the club. You will need to provide your name, callsign, and an email where you can be reached. Once the information is received, an account will be created and you will be sent a temporary password.
My apologies for having to implement this measure.

Please note: You do not need an account to read this web site. Nothing (thus far) is hidden or restricted. You only need an account to write comments on articles.
